OSS光保护板是为了确保重要光纤路由/设备安全通信使用的一种保护板，在发送端用光通道选收器件对发送光通道进行路由选择，光信号只能沿着工作通道或者备用通道2选1传送。可提供主备光纤的实时监控（及同时进行光功率计监控）能有效避免主备路由光纤同时阻断的可能性
