FTTB(Fiber To The Building)是FTTX+LAN的一种网络连接模式，即光纤到楼，是一种基于优化光纤网络技术的宽带接入方式，采用光纤到楼，网线入户的方式实现用户的宽带接入，我们称为FTTX+LAN的宽带接入网（简称FTTB），这是一种最合理、最实用、最经济有效的宽带接入方法。
采用EPON技术进行FTTB组网可节省从机房到小区的主干光缆，且结合EPON系统点到多点的组网优势，可灵活扩容升级，且EPON提供强大的网管功能，可准确定位故障点，方便维护和管理。
方案图为EPON系统在小区宽带中的一种应用。在机房放置OLT机架设备，宽带信号从OLT上联口输入，PON接口接入光缆后到达小区，在小区楼栋分布集中的区域放置分光器，分光器提供多个支纤，接入光缆到达楼栋多个后，接入ONU设备即可将宽带信号接入到各个楼栋。ONU设备下挂交换机，交换机接双绞线入户接入PC即可提供宽带服务。对于用户数量较少的楼栋，可采用提供8端口的FTHS-7208 ONU；对于多用户的楼栋，可采用单口的ONUFTHS-7200，然后下挂交换机；对于楼栋分布比较集中，但每个楼栋的用户数量不多的情况，可采用4口ONU FTHS-7204，FTHS-7204的4个端口分别下挂一个交换机，然后双绞线入户。
